Smoking, Drink and Drungs Policy

Smoking
It is my policy to ensure that children are in a smoke-free environment whilst in my care.
I will not smoke in or on the premises and will ensure others do not smoke outside on our premises whilst minded children are present. Under no circumstances do I allow smoking indoors at any time.
Where reasonably possible I will ensure that no-one smokes in an outside area when the children in our care are present (although this may be difficult, for example at a public park).

Drink and Drugs
As an Ofsted registered Childminder it is vital that I am alert to any dangers and able to protect your child. In order to do this effectively I must not be under the influence of alcohol or any form of drugs (including some prescription medication) If I am prescribed medication, other than routine antibiotics I must inform Ofsted who will make a decision as to whether I can continue to childmind whilst taking them. I will not drink any alcohol during minded hours or immediately before.
I will ensure that alcohol and other drugs are kept safely on a high shelf or high in the fridge, away from children.
I will not release the children into the care of any parent or carer who I have reason to believe is under the influence of alcohol or drugs. If an alternative person is not available to collect the child then I would have to contact social services as part of my duty of care, therefore if there is an issue please contact me to sort out alternative arrangements if you need to.
